At MENPS our sKids site is located in the school hall. We have a culturally diverse group of children and staff at our site. Our staff also have a broad range of experience and expertise in working with children with diverse learning and behavioural needs, children whose English is their second language and working with children aged 5 to 13.

In our philosophy, we acknowledge that every child is unique and therefore we ensure this is catered for in our programme. Values we hold at our site specifically include cultural sensitivity and responsiveness, acknowledgement of the Treaty of Waitangi including the ako (reciprocal learning that occurs in our programme), tuakana – teina relationships with our senior and junior children and communication with the whānau of our tamariki to maintain a strong relationship and affirm their cultural identity. Cultural celebrations and language weeks are also celebrated through the activities and games chosen and the language of our tamariki and staff are acknowledged through greetings, social interactions and roll call. During our BSC and ASC programme we also play music and have competitions where mini prizes are up for grabs!

Our Programmes

Before School Care: 7.30AM-8.30AM
A selection of games and activities are offered to the children such as colouring in, board games, lego, books and music. At this time, children have time to relax and prepare for their school day as well as having a yummy breakfast to fuel them for the day! Our children are offered a range of cereals, toast and milo except on treat Fridays where they have the additional option of pancakes or crumpets for breakfast.

After School Care: 3.00PM-6.00PM
In our ASC programme we offer many different activities for the children to participate in such as baking, sports activities and arts and crafts. Children are encouraged and given the opportunity to express themselves creatively and this has been provided for by the range of materials and mediums offered to them. We also spend a large period of our time outdoors playing games such as soccer, table tennis, infinity tag, netball as well as time on our school play grounds which the children love! Children are also given a healthy afternoon tea snack.

Holiday Programmes: 7.30AM-6.00PM
Our programme during the holidays include a wide variety of different themes and activities tailored to our site (as well as trip days!). We love getting feedback from the children about what they enjoy doing to ensure we can plan and create our themes for our programmes to fit their interests.
