WHAT IS YOUR POLICY ON ELECTRONIC DEVICES?

(Ipad, tablet, laptop, phone, camera, electronic game device, etc.).

Unless specifically required for a particular activity that will run under close supervision, any
children bringing electronic devices to the sKids programme will be required to keep the
devices in their bags or in the programme cupboard. These will be securely stored at all
times during programme hours.

No child is to take a photograph of another child on a personal device without express
permission from both the child’s parents/caregivers and staff members.

When devices are in use for an authorised activity (eg, homework) staff will monitor the
child’s usage of the device. In the event that a child is found viewing an unauthorised site,
the incident will be recorded. If, at any time, a child is found to be viewing an inappropriate
site they will be prevented from using the device until further notice. The parents/caregivers
will be notified, and the child will be given a written notice about their behaviour. Full details
of the incident will be recorded and in the “child concerns” register if applicable.

Staff members are not to use any device during programme hours or while on school
premises unless for a particular authorised activity e.g. to access the Customer Care Management System. If
children or staff are accessing the internet for an authorised activity and this is through the
school Wi-Fi system, then school rules must be adhered to. A copy of the school internet
policy must be obtained when an agreement for use is reached.

Staff members are not to post photographs of sKids children or staff in uniform on their
personal Social Networking Sites nor post any comments relating to staff, children or
parents/caregivers. Staff members are to be mindful that their working life at sKids must be
kept separate from their personal life at all times. This is detailed in their Code of Conduct
under Privacy.

WHAT IF I AM LATE PICKING MY CHILD UP?

We are open until 6.00 p.m. daily.

The Programme Manager, or Franchise Owner will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child.   If your child is not picked up by 6.15 p.m. staff will proceed to contact parents and emergency contacts.  At no time will the child be waiting alone.  If within one hour of the programme closing there has been no contact from parents, the Programme Manager/Franchise Owner will contact the local police and Oranga Tamariki for advice.

Please note: we have a late pick up fee of one dollar per minute after 6.00 p.m.

CAN I SEND A FRIEND/RELATIVE ALONG TO PICK UP MY CHILD?

By using our online AIMY enrolment process a parent can authorise another person to pickup the child.

AIMY will also record any persons NOT AUTHORISED to collect the child.

DO YOU PROVIDE FOOD FOR THE CHILDREN?

Yes we do!  Our afternoon snacks are healthy, nutritious and include; fresh fruit, and a variety of low sugar, high fibre options.  Water is always available.

On cooking days or end of term parties, they may enjoy an occasional treat.

WHAT IF MY CHILD REQUIRES MEDICATION.

By using our online AIMY enrolment process a parent can provide information on childrens’ medication requirements and give permission for our staff to administer this.

Any time a child needs to be administered medication staff will keep a record of relevant details.

Children who self medicate eg, asthma inhalers will still be supervised by sKids staff.

DO YOU RUN SPECIAL OUTINGS?

Yes. During school holidays we will take the children on trips away from the venue. The children will be transported by: Bus, taxi, van, walking bus (In some cases  this may also involve a ferry / boat trip).

There will be additional staff present, the ratio being determined on assessment of the outing but usually at 1:8.

Parents will be notified prior to the event happening and a sign informing parents of group whereabouts and contact numbers will be posted on the door of the usual venue.

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS?

sKids behavior management procedures are in line with OSCAR approved procedures and are similar to primary school policy. These are documented and available for you to view in the on site folder.

These are in place to ensure our environment is a safe and happy place. We maintain an emphasis on being polite, considerate and co-operative. We reserve the right to refuse or terminate a child’s enrolment if there are unresolved behaviour issues.

MY CHILD HAS SPECIAL NEEDS.

Please discuss with the programme manager prior to enrolment if your child has a disability or a special need. The more information you supply to us the better informed and prepared we are able to be in providing effective and adequate care.

The ability of any particular programme to accommodate the needs of your child is determined by the requirements of your child, the facilities available, and qualifications and availability of staff associated with that particular programme.

We are proud that in most cases we are able to accommodate a variety of needs. Please be aware that a trial period may be required for assessment purposes; this will be done jointly by the sKids Centre Manager/Franchise Owner to ensure that your childs’ needs are being met adequately.
