It’s all about having lots of FUN and your kids will have so much fun at our sKids Centre that they won’t want to leave.

We’ll feed them, help them with their homework, let them play then do a fun activity with them so you can rest assured that they are safe, secure and having the time of their life.

Our team has been police-vetted and rigorously interviewed by JP and the children. Our training include: induction, behavioural guidance and child protection, food safety and health and safety. We are also certified first-aiders.

We are based at the Belmont Rose Centre where kids are already familiar with the Belmont Primary School environment. We are also very fortunate to have access to its basketball courts, field, fitness trail and the kids’ latest favourite – the new state of the art climbing frame! In supporting us, you are also supporting the Rose Centre because 10% of your child’s OSCAR fee is returned to the school as rent!

Our wonderful team of programme assistants will:

  • provide a variety of healthy breakfast and afternoon tea
  • help the children with their homework (be it reading, spelling, writing or basic facts)
  • freeplay with them (some of the all time favourites include: ball tiggy, Marco Polo, piggy-in-the-middle)
  • engage them in a fun activity.

You can rest assured that your children will have the time of their lives while you pursue your careers and interests.

Our daily afterschool care format works like this:

3pm – 3.30pm We collect younger children from their classes. Older children will gather at the sKids footpath sign outside the school library within 10 minutes. Once the roll is taken, we will walk all children down to Belmont Rose Centre. Children wash their hands and enjoy a healthy afternoon tea

3.30pm – 4pm Children begin homework, reading, completing worksheet or quiet activity

4pm – 4.30pm Free play at the playground weather permitting

4.30pm – 5pm **Special activity**

5pm – 5.30pm Finishing projects and clean-up

5.30pm – 6pm Small group activity until parent arrives.

You are most welcome to visit and talk to us at Belmont Rose Centre!

During the term:  2.30pm – 6pm

Meet our team:

Jin Ping Tay, Programme Owner

JP and her husband Ray Guo became the proud owners of sKids Grey Lynn in January 2013. With a background in the HR & Legal professions, JP jumped at the chance to be inspired daily by children and the dynamic sKids team. Having developed successful programmes at Grey Lynn School with her very capable team, she felt it was time to expand her horizons. JP became sKids Area Manager for Devonport-Hauraki and opened centres in Devonport (2015), Belmont (2017) and Vauxhall (2020).

Our Vision is to be the childcare and programme provider-of-choice to our school community

Our Mission is to inspire our people and children to thrive and grow.

Having developed successful programmes at Grey Lynn School with her very capable team, she felt it was time to expand her horizons. When she was approached to restart sKids Devonport, JP and her husband moved into the community within a month. With the support of the then Principal Melinda Bennett, sKids Devonport reopened in February 2015.

JP’s career highlights so far include: (1) getting involved in the sKids Systems Committee which brought out AIMY, the OSCAR industry’s first parent portal and booking system; (2) bringing three very excited Devonport children to the TV One Breakfast show to announce our FoodStorm cooking programme; and (3) serving families in the Grey Lynn and the North Shore Peninsula by caring for their children while the adults pursue their careers and interests.

JP now lives in Belmont with her husband and baby Isaac.
